Why would I need to downgrade my CIDB license grade?

Several reasons include: reducing certificate renewal costs, no longer meeting paid-up capital requirements for higher grades, or focusing on lower value projects.

When can I apply for a grade downgrade?

Grade downgrade applications (PPK) must be made at least 180 days before the PPK Certificate expiry. If the certificate has less than 180 days remaining, renewal must be done first.

Can SPKK be carried over when downgrading grades?

No. SPKK cannot be transferred when downgrading. Example: G4 downgrading to G2 — G4 SPKK cannot be used for G2. The account must be cancelled and a new PPK & SPKK application must be submitted. This is different from upgrading — for example G2 upgrading to G4, G2 SPKK can be carried over to G4 without a new application.

Does the certificate expiry date change after downgrade?

No. The downgraded certificate expiry date remains the same as the original. Example: If G7 Certificate expires on 20 May 2025, after downgrading to G5, the G5 certificate also expires on 20 May 2025.
