What is Contractor License Grade Downgrade?

Grade downgrade allows contractor companies to reduce their license grade from higher to lower. For example, from G7 to G5 or from G4 to G2.

This process is suitable for companies wanting to reduce capital commitment, lower renewal costs, or focus on smaller value projects that don't require a high grade.

The criteria for downgrade are the same as new registration for the target grade. Our service helps ensure the process runs smoothly.

Important Notes

  • PPK application must be made before 180 days of PPK Certificate expiry
  • Certificate expiry date does not change after downgrade
  • If certificate has <180 days remaining, renew first
  • SPKK cannot be transferred when downgrading — SPKK account must be cancelled and a new PPK & SPKK application must be submitted
  • Approval period: 7-14 working days

Important: SPKK Status When Downgrading Grades

Many contractors overlook this — please read carefully before making any decision

UPGRADE

Example: G2 → G4

G2 SPKK CAN be carried over to G4. No new SPKK application needed.

DOWNGRADE

Example: G4 → G2

G4 SPKK CANNOT be carried over to G2. Account must be cancelled and reapplied.

Steps required after downgrading (regarding SPKK):

1 Cancel existing SPKK account
2 Apply for PPK under the new grade
3 Apply for new SPKK for that grade
